July Stableford
Under bright and sunny skies, the first stableford competition of the year was held at Strathmore on Tuesday 20th July. Thirty-one members and four guests competed off the white tees for the crested tankards, golf balls and sweep monies on the course, with most returning to the Club for a light supper and the rest.
LEE BUSHBY was a runaway winner with 42 points. Trailing in his wake, came ALLAN McPHERSON and ANDREW CHRISTIE with 37 points, Allan taking 2nd place on a countback. 4th and 5th places were filled by two guests, Jimmy Smith and Andy Pitowski each with 36 points.
Honourable mention should be made of the Hon. Secretary who drained a long curling putt on the 18th to cap a fine par on his final hole. Had he not already taken so many shots to that point, he too would have taken his place in the winners' enclosure.
The second and final stableford competition will be on the North Inch, off the yellow tees, on Tuesday 17th August.
