From Islay 2007 to Leeds 2010

The Annual Outing 2010 took us to Leeds where we played two outstanding Alister MacKenzie courses - Alwoodley and Moortown. The weather was fair and the standard of play poor. Only one player managed to score better than his handicap in any round and only one player scored 30 or more points in all three rounds. There were however 21 birdies scored over the three days ie one per flight per day. Competitions were held on each day and the results were:- Day 1 - Alwoodley - Ewan Findlay, 35 points Moortown - Bob Reid, 31 points Day 2 - Alwoodley - Andrew Christie, 38 points Moortown - Ed Connal, 32 points Day 3 - Moortown - Ian Beattie, 33 points. The main competition for the Biarritz Trophy was the best stableford score over the three rounds. In third place with 90 points was Ralph Giulianotti; the runner up with 93 points was Ed Connal and the winner with 97 points was Ewan Findlay. Congratulations to all winners. By all accounts the outing was a success although one member declared the fare at dinner on Day 1 to be somewhat tepid and made his feelings known in no uncertain fashion. Others referred to the "superbly arranged Leeds tour", "all superlatives and very much appreciated by everyone" and "best ever outing/trip". Attached are one or two mementos - including presentation of the Biarritz Trophy to the winner, Ewan Findlay by our Royal correspondent, Bob McGowan, and a copy of the only surviving photograph from the inaugural trip to Islay in 2007. After note - the attachments may have to come later, as inexperience with the workings of the website and ineptitude have conspired to ensure that not all the images can be uploaded at the moment.
