4 Clubs Quaich
Congratulations to Bob McGowan, Alastair Anderson, Donald McDonald, John Graham, Ed Connal and Andrew Christie who lifted the 4 Clubs Quaich in Aberdeen this week. Not since winning the inaugural event in 2004 has Royal Perth been successful in this annual medal matchplay event contested by the Western Club, Glasgow, the New Club, Edinburgh, the Royal Northern Club, Aberdeen and Royal Perth.
The Golf Secretary offered no comment to the suggestion that the outcome may have been affected by the fact he had re-written the rules of the competition for this year.
The team was warmly received back in Perth - not a fly past as such, it has to be said - at Friday lunch in the Club, where we were joined for the occasion by RAF flight lieutenent Alex.
For the record, that is three wins out of three this year - PER ARDUA AD ASTRA.
