Introduction
James Haggart confirmed that he had been in touch with Auchterhouse shooting ground and had received the following information
.. Auchterhouse carries full insurance for shooting activities. This means that we are all able to participate. (However, it would be preferable for individuals to have their own shooting insurance as we progress, and this will be investigated.)
Gun owners should take their shotgun licenses and those without guns are able to borrow guns from licensed owners as long as they are under direct supervision of the license holder.
Cartridges can be bought at Auchterhouse, but they are relaxed about shooters taking their own.
Costs
Non Members (of Auchterhouse) are charged 24p per target.
A 50 bird sporting set-up would therefore cost £12 plus cartridges (aprox. £8), so total costs should be in the region of £20.
Anyone wishing to participate in “Down the Line” or Skeet is welcome to do so, but after an initial sporting challenge.
Dates
It was proposed that we look at shooting on a Friday at 10 am (Auchterhouse opens at 10 am) with a view to returning to the Club for lunch.
Depending on numbers, we might be struggling to return to the Club in good time and members should also note the requirement of Gun Licenses to provide a secure locked environment for the shotgun whilst visiting the Club.
Friday 13th August and Friday 17th September are dates that have been put forward. Should members of the group feel strongly for or against these dates, would they please let James Haggart know through email.
Instruction
Douglas MacGregor’s son, Iain is a head instructor at Auchterhouse and has very kindly offered two hours of instruction to the Group. This offers a great opportunity for the beginners in the Group to learn Safe Gun Handling and basic target practice from an experienced instructor. We ask Douglas to pass on our thanks to Iain and hope that we will be able to take up his offer on one of the aforementioned days. Please intimate if you wish to take advantage of Iain’s offer.
Website
It was suggested that this minute (or abridged version) be displayed on the Club’s website in order to allow Members who may not have seen the notice in the Club regarding the New Group.
